Discusses screening & therapy techniques in suicide prevention, & how it differs from other such techniques. Questions of whether suicide can be screened for & treated are addressed, & potential problems are pointed out. 2 phases of treatment are the primary one of saving the patient’s life, & the secondary one, where more traditional techniques may be employed. Some areas needing more attention are follow-up & survivor problems, group psychotherapy, & the use of volunteers. (10 refs.) (RM)
