In an attempt to identify distinct dimensions of suicidal experience, 79 suicidal individuals were cluster analyzed on the basis of the reasons they cited for their having wished to die. Through this procedure, it was possible to identify four distinct clusters of individual’s suicidal experiences, which were statistically and conceptually meaningful. These clusters permitted the accurate classification of more than 91% of the sample.
