The hypothesis that suicidal persons dichotomize their organizations of meaning more than another emotionally disturbed group and normal Ss was evaluated by the use of the evaluative, activity, and potency factors on the semantic differential. Suicidal, psychosomatic, and normal Ss were administered an 18-concept semantic differential composed of scales highly loaded on the 3 factors. 2 measures of dichotomized thinking were devised.
