Luke E~~Norton W~~Denbigh K
This survey of 200 people aged 80 or more & not living in institutions documents a high degree (21%) of psychological disturbance. Further, 75% had some activity restrictions due to physical problems. Social isolation was common & was the major predictor of psychological disturbance in a multiple regression analysis. Implications of the results for social policy & meeting the needs of the elderly are discussed. (KSD)
