Three typical case histories of survivors of attempted suicide are presented. These cases are representative of the upper, middle and lower class patients and also of serious, ambivalent, and gesture varieties of the pre-suicidal state. These case histories illustrate the clinical psychiatric psychopathology, together with their MMPI profiles. The MMPI profile interpretation of each patient is presented.
