The treatment of suicidal patients is very difficult & complicated demanding the utmost patience, empathy & continuous alertness. The best efforts of the therapist may not always conquer the violent death drives of such patients but more often than not the therapist’s efforts are in the end rewarded. Suicidal acts are often preceded by an exacerbation or murderous tendencies as evidenced many times. Often a combination of parricidal wishes & incestuous drives are also present.
