The incidence of traumatic injury to the abdomen in pregnancy maybe increasing due to exposure of gravidas to larger numbers of automobile accidents and other violent injuries. Because of its pertinence to today’s changing practice of obstetrics, we feel it pertinent to relate the following report of trauma caused by self-inflicted stab wounds to the pregnant abdomen and the fetus at term. No report of a patient with a comparable injury has been found in a review of the medical literature.
