This study (from Finland) showed that over a 15-year period the rate of suicide directly linked to homicide was the same in rural and urban areas. The rate proved to be no higher in underdeveloped areas than elsewhere. Only 17.5% of the offenders had undergone psychiatric hospital care. Schizophrenia and other paronoid psychoses appeared most frequently in the diagnosis.
