Related annual variations in suicide rates to concomitant annual variations in expressions of anomie by a sample’s responses on the 5-item Srole scale. Anomie increased in the age groups with increases in suicide rate (15-24, 25-34); variations in anomie correlated significantly with variations in suicide rates of the former, but nonsignificantly with the latter. Anomie also increased significantly in the older groups that showed no increases in suicide rates.
