In England, 544 consecutive cases of attempted suicide were seen at 2 hospitals over a 12 month period and allocated to junior and senior psychiatrists of British and foreign origin. During the 12 month follow-up period, 31 people attempted and 15 people completed suicide. Neither repeated attempt or suicide were significantly related to the country of origin or length of training of the psychiatrist.
