A case report of a 32 year old male with chronic suicidal behavior is presented. Despite extensive treatment with coventional antidepressant drugs, the subject remained suicidal. With the administration of zimelidine & amitriptyline, suicidal ideation was relieved. It is concluded that the combination of the 2 drugs produced a synergistic effect on 5HT system, although dual effect on both 5HT and NA systems can not be ruled out. (EP)
