Preliminary research results of a Toronto hospital team approach to helping suicide attemptors indicates that the suicide attemptor is most typically a woman under 30 who lives alone. The attemptor is often educationally disadvantaged and has employment difficulties. Past history usually includes previous attempts and psychiatric treatment. Most attempts involve drug overdoses. Treatment recommendations based on the findings are presented.
