Abstract
Political Integration and the Effect of War on Suicide: United States, 1933-1976
Marshall J R
Explanations of the effect of war on the suicide rate & the need to disentangle the effects of economic & political integration in the relation of the suicide rate to war are noted. Most explanations ignore economic conditions & stress a war’s generation of political integration. If such explanations are correct, a great national war should, with economic conditions held constant, decrease suicide. An examiniation of suicide rates among white U.S. adults does no show this trend.(DD)
