To assess the relationship between adolescent alienation & a # of sociological factors a sample of 200 adolescent suicide attempts were studied. Statistically significant were 8 variables– in descending order: social contact with peers in the neighborhood, conflict with parents, broken romance, economic status of parents, communication blockage with parents, school performances, stepparents, & broken home. It was concluded that adolescence, by itself, is a good predictor of suicide attempts.
