Describes a study in which violent offenders & suicidal patients were tested in order to investigate outward & inward directed aggression & discover an explanation of the personality qualities of the 2 groups. Results indicate that violent offences & suicides are manifestations of the same type of psychic disintegration. Kernberg’s theory was found to be highly relevant to an interpretation of the findings of the study. Detailed findings are presented. (40 ref)
