Of 50 adolescents admitted following self-injury, 26 were followed up at 6-24 months. 8 (31%) of the subjects repeated self-injury during the follow up period. These subjects had all been judged high risk on the initial assessment. Repetition was related to both a worsened environment and institutionaliztion. 6 (23%) of the subjects were rated improved. They all experienced an improved environment. (JE)
