Studied 271 Swedish men over 15 yrs of age living in urban & rural areas who were registered in 1970-71 as dead through suicide. Analyses were based on extensive collection of data including personal interviews with relatives. The suicide rate for urban men was 57/100000, & for rural men it was 27/100000. The most important difference in methods was poisoning: 33/100000 for urban & 7/100000 for rural groups. Data concerning morbidity & relational & social problems are also presented.
