Discusses the role of police administration in dealing with the problems caused by the role ambiguity inherent in police work. The police are primarily peace rather than law enforcement officers, performing public or social welfare type services such as handling attempted suicides or the mentally deranged. It may be extremely difficult to adjust from one role to another, particularly since in the law enforcement role the officer is accustomed to resistance & hositility.
