Self-administration of metallic mercury by parenteral routes has been described in a variety of circumstances often involving psychiatrically disturbed patients. We wish to describe a case in which the subcutaneous injection of metallic mercury appeared as a cutaneous lesion mimicking nodular melanoma in a patient not suspected of any psychiatric disorder.
