An attempt has been made to point at the historic role of social work in the development of the crisis model. The use of this specialized approach was described in the treatment of a patient experiencing distress, who sought help at a community-based, walk-in center. In all likelihood, modern crisis theory will be found to be increasingly useful in the treatment programs of social agencies and other mental health settings.
