Provides background information & advice on suicide among prisoners. For both adults & juveniles, incarceration is associated with higher suicide rates. Suicide often occurs shortly after admission & when supervision is light. Signs of suicide risk (e.g. family rejection) & explicit warnings of suicide (e.g. inability to sleep) are listed & suicidal behaviors are described. Prevention is discussed in terms of awareness, referrals, & listening. Checklists & resources for information are included.
