Suicide Survivors: a Follow-up Study of Persons Who Survived Jumping From the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridges

Interviews with 7 of 10 known survivors of jumps from the Golden Gate & San Francisco-Oakland Bay bridges showed a unique association between the Golden Gate Bridge & suicide. All of the survivors described this experience as tranquil & peaceful. None of them experienced life events or distant memories passing through their minds or before their eyes. All of them experienced transcendence & spiritual rebirth phenomena. Suggested for preventing suicides at the Golden Gate Bridge are discussed.
