Self-Destructive Behavior and Religion (IN: Suicide Research Proceedings of the Seminars, by Yrjo Jahnsson Foundation, 1974-1977)

This study update examines the relationship between religion & self-destructive behavior. In the 1st part of the study all suicides during 1969-73 were divided into 4 groups according to religious affiliation. Part 2 focuses on self-destructive behavior. This sample consists of mental hopsital patients, psychiatric outpatients & alcohol treatment patients. The 2 groups will be compared to test the hypothesis that persons with strong suicidal inclinations come from more secularized backgrounds.
