This study was designed to test a wide range of hypotheses about indirect life threatening behavior (ILTB) among a sample of elderly, chronically ill patients (n=58) at the Wadsworth VA Centre, Los Angeles. These patients were tested using the ILTB Rating Scale developed for this study, a Staff Interview Schedule & a Patient Interview Schedule. The test results are discussed in terms of the predictive value of the ILTB & improvements that would make the scale more accurate. (NBB)
