Helping Survivors With the Impact of Suicide Through Grief Counselling: With the Cooperation of Coroner’s Deputies

This paper offers a brief program description of Survivors of Sudden Death (SSD), an offshoot of The Suicide Prevention Service of Sacramento County, Inc. The program is divided into 4 phases:1)Coroner’s Deputies contact SSD immediately after a suicide 2)trained counsellors aid survivors immediately by exploring their needs 3)ongoing counseling and follow-up for 1 year & 4)referrals to other agencies are made if required. rogram evaluation and staff descriptions are included.
