Description of suggested protocol for the medical management of drug-induced (particularly barbiturates) coma. Emphasis is placed on the importance of establishing the airway, ruling out other causes, and procedures of detoxifying the noxious substance. There is particular discussion of toxic screening, neurological investigation, forced alkaline diuresis and the use of hemodialysis in severe cases. (RW)
