Suicide: How the Behavioral Sciences are Applied to a Major Socio-Psychological Problem

This article discusses the role & findings (e.g. facts & fables) of the LASPC. Attention from Marilyn Monroe’s death tripled their number of emergency calls. The article also addresses the social & psychological causes, thoughts of a suicidal person, the value of the significant other in therapy, & how some accidents may actually be suicides. Suicide is highest in: men, people who live alone in apartments regardless of wealth, & the geriatric ghetto (the center’s strategic location).
