This paper reports on studies of suicides in hospitals & the circumstances under which these suicides are most likely to occur. Various special problems associated with suicide in general medical-surgical hospitals, convalescent nursing-hospitals, & psychiatric hospitals are considered, & recommendations are made for suicide prevention in each of these settings. Contributions hospitals can make toward preventing suicide beyond their walls are also discussed.
