This article will review findings on the current epidemiology of suicide attempts based on English language studies between 1960 & 1971. The purpose is to document the increase in attempts, the magnitude & characteristics of the problem & to give attention to the international consistencies in trends. The prevention implication of these findings & their relation to writings on the youth culture of the 60s will be described. (SIEC)
