Adolescent Suicide: An Overview of the Problem With Implications for Family Practitioners

Theories of suicide, implications for practitioners & recognition of symptoms are reviewed. The role of schools, suicide prevention centers, society & counseling/therapy in prevention & treatment are examined. A holistic approach is emphasized & as well as the importance of after care. Adolescent insecurity & lack of belonging due to family & societal conditions are major contributors to the problem. (GW)
