The purpose of this study was discernment of similarities & differences in accidental & suicidal deaths. Comparison was made between pairs of males matched by age. Suicidal deaths were resticted to gunshot wounds, accidental deaths to auto accidents. Half of both groups had been drinking alcohol prior to their deaths according to autopsies. 2/3 of accidental deaths had experienced moves into situations of increased responsibility & all suicide had experienced a loss of some sort.(CS)
