Report compares cognitive therapy, antidepressant drugs & a combination of these two, in depressed patients. All were rated on 7 measures of mood, including independent observer-rated & self-rated depression & scales of anxiety & irritability. Results are discussed in terms of Beck’s cognitive theory of depression & factors ofpresumed causal importance of depression in general practice.
