Completed suicide among certain professions are compared to suicide in the general public. The average of the combined suicide rate for physicians/dentists & attorneys, is over 3 times that of white collar workers. Data is provided on numerous charts. Traits of good professionals seem to predispose towards depression; eg. Control of emotions, compulsive attention to detail, and prolonged deferral of gratification.
