It is often argued that the medical care evaluation study (the audit) does not really have an impact on patient care. It is judged to be a rather dispassionate mechanical exercise that is perhaps interesting in terms of research but is essentially ineffective as a vehicle of change. Such a presumption precludes the possibility that an adapted and improved audit process can yield significant results.(SIEC)
