This paper analyzes 8 counseling approaches for dying adult clients (4 types) in terms of which approach to use with each client type. Clients are categorized in terms of Kastenbaum & Aisenberg’s ways of responding to one’s death: overcoming, participating, fearing, & sorrowing. Counseling approaches include: psychoanalytic, crisis, loneliness & isolation, patient-centered, self-actualization, LSD, insight, & stage theory. (30 references)
