This news clipping examines Charles Kolbs examination of the Archambault penitentiary in Montreal. Inmates at the penitentiary claimed they were subject to sexual perversions by guards & other various human rights violations during a prison riot. Kolb found that the prison was effective in restoring order as quickly as possible. The report recommended a public inquiry to be held on the guards’ alleged misconduct. Kolb also recommended that prison regulations comply with provisions of the new Constitution which guarantee a prisoner’s right to counsel. (AK)
