This paper reviews a number of suicide researcher’s theories about suicide being the final solution to many people’s attituted of hopelessness and despair. Case studies are examined as well as the patient’s point of view and his relationship to other viewpoints. Hospitalization is considered as part of the treatment process, however also noted are the numerous suicides completed after current discharge from a psychiatric unit. (22 ref.)
