This study looks at family data of an out-patient sample with primary affective disorder. Alcoholism, age of onset, & suicide were some of the factors looked at. Criteria for diagnosing the disorder were outlined. Unipolar & bipolar patient histories were compared. Bipolar & early onset unipolar patients reported more suicide. Results show chronic, unremitting depression over several years form a distinct group. (MRE)
