This report describes the development of an instrument designed to measure the behavioural manifestations of depression. It concludes that the inventory was able to discriminate effectively among groups of patients with varying degrees of depression. It was also able to reflect changes in the intensity of depression after an interval of time, claiming the instrument is a useful tool for research study in depression, & as a step in the direction of placing psychiatric diagnosis qualitatively.
