The paper describes a study of 231 attempted and 194 completed suicides and evaluates the predictive value of the presence of suicide notes in the assessment of suicide risk. It reports that knowledge of the existence of a note can greatly aid the clinician in assessment of suicidal risk & in the management of the suicidal individual. (7 ref)
