This pilot study was conducted with a group of 32 chronic hemodialysis patients to assess indirect self-destructive behavior & correlate this with ratings of cooperativeness obtained from health care professionals. Findings suggest less cooperative hemodialysis patients had experienced their illness as a more severe blow to their self concept & failed to integrate their illness into an effective adaptive life pattern.(LN)
