This paper reviews evidence related to the impact of suicide prevention centers on suicide rates, and suggests suicide rates are not influenced by these centers. The article also presents data about the impact of centers in North Carolina and fails to find effects on suicide rates, even controlling for relevant sociodemographic variables. The impact of these suicide centers on the users of the centers was not assessed. (KD)
