This study based on publicly available statistics provides strong support for the case that underreporting of suicide in Canada may be considerable. The study also suggests that, in any community, there may exist some general tendency to violent & unrestrained behavior – a tendency that influences the rates for both suicide & comparable accidents in a similar direction. Greater refinement & reliability of basic statistical data is required to explore these concepts.
