Study of all completed suicides in Edinburgh between 1963-65. Examines relationship to selected social variables. Findings are based on 216 cases in the official register of death. Comparisons are made with suicide attempters. Variables include age, sex, mode, preventing attempts, & overcrowding. Found approximate equal numbers of men & women. Highest correlates with overcrowding & preventing attempts. 2 distinguishable groups: The lonely old, & the overcrowded, disturbed & delinquent young.(MB)
