In this article the author compares martyrdom to suicide in the religious contexts of Buddhism & Christianity. There is discussion of doctrinal non-violence as a form of suicide with specific reference to Jesus. The alleged suicide of Dag Hammerkjold & his possible motives of suicide as a form of martyrdom are also analyzed. (SC)
