Dysregulation and suicide in children and adolescents
Benton, T.D., Muhrer, E., Jones, J.D., & Lewis, J.
Emotional and behavioral dysregulation have been associated consistently with suicidal behaviors across diagnostic groups and are independent risk factors acutely and chronically.
Interventions for suicidal youth should focus on dysregulation using evidence-based psychotherapies as well as treating the underlying psychiatric disorder pharmacologically.
Instruments are available to measure dysregulation across diagnostic groups and can be used to monitor change when treating suicidal youth.
