Centre for Suicide Prevention is happy to be named as one of two Calgary charities, alongside the Alex, participating in the 6th Annual Breaking the Silence event, a Alberta-wide walk for mental health awareness and education.  

Breaking the Silence is a one-week virtual walk and run event taking place between June 20-27, 2020, hosted by the Mental Health Foundation,

How to participate

  1. Register online for the free event.
  2. Pick a date and time to walk.
  3. Take a selfie to post on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter using #breakthesilence and #IWalkfor.
  4. Donate to the charity of your choice online.

Centre for Suicide Prevention will be hosting a webinar on June 24, 2020 at 11 am MT about suicide and suicide prevention.

In addition to walking and fundraising, Breaking the Silence is hosting live Zoom sessions for participants to learn about mental health topics including trauma, addiction, suicide prevention and coping with stress during a pandemic.

Centre for Suicide Prevention presented at one of these live Zoom sessions. We discussed the myths and facts of suicide as well as the Buddy Up men’s suicide prevention campaign.
